Wednesday: ‘American Idol’

[IMG:L]American Idol — 9/8c on Fox

You know we’re close to the end of American Idol when it becomes feasible to actually name all the remaining contestants.

Syesha Mercado, David Cook, David Archuleta, Brooke White and Jason Castro are the only ones left.

And after tonight, it should be Syesha, Brooke and the two Davids; however, as we’ve all learned, what should happen on Idol rarely does.

Frankly, Castro should’ve been eliminated almost two months ago when he sang/butchered “Hallelujah,” but here he is in the top five, ahead of the likes of Carly Smithson and Michael Johns.

I might be bitter, but it’s time for him to go. Which means…Syesha will probably be “leaving us” tonight.

Aside from the five-second elimination climax, Neil Diamond–whose vast songbook was the them this week–will be performing “Amazing Grace” and further milking the upcoming release of his album, while British pop tart Natasha Bedingfield will sing “Pocketful of Sunshine.”
