Will you buy your movies on Movies.com?

Disney and Fox will partner in a new Internet company, movies.com, to provide movies and other entertainment on demand starting in early 2002, the two companies announced Wednesday. The service will generally require consumers to have access to broadband Internet services such as cable or DSL or enhanced digital cable TV services. It is expected that the two companies will follow up the theatrical release of their films by moving them quickly onto movies.com. Last month, MGM, Paramount, Sony, Universal and Warner Bros. said that they were teaming up to create their own on-demand service, leaving DreamWorks as the only major studio without an announced on-demand strategy.
