Style File:

A small town girl who spent her high school years skating and writing songs in Canada, Lavigne delivers girly-pop with an edgy feel on tracks like “Losing Grip,” “Sk8er Boi” and “Nobody’s Fool,” but on tracks like “I’m With You,” “Tomorrow,” “Things I’ll Never Say” and “My World,” she sounds more like a country singer. But one look at Lavigne all decked out in studded leather belts and wrist cuffs, sweatbands, ties, black and red fingernails, and myriad other hardcore punk accessories will make it clear she’s not. Lavigne combines girlish spunk, amazing music and a killer punk look in one down-to-earth package teens can really relate to.

Movie Tunes:

Lavigne‘s popularity among America’s youth is growing, and should go through the ceiling when her unreleased single, “I Don’t Give,” appears on the soundtrack to the third installment of the American Pie series, American Wedding. Plus, AvrilHardcore.com reports that the lyrics for Lavigne‘s song, the unnecessarily strangely spelled “Sk8er Boi,” are being turned into a movie, also entitled Sk8er Boi. MTV Films and Alphaville will produce the film, about two culturally divided teenagers in love. The movie’s soundtrack, produced by the songwriting trio that co-wrote the songs on Lavigne‘s debut album, Let Go, promises to be decent.
