New Kid on the Block:

Michelle Branch‘s musical talents are undeniable. She writes catchy tunes, and she plays the guitar like a virtuoso. She even had a hit with legendary player Carlos Santana,”The Game of Love.” A mere 20 years old, Branch already has a Grammy Award, an MTV Viewer’s Choice Award, five Top 10 hits and a sold out tour with Sheryl Crow under her belt. Her first album sold over 2.5 million copies, and she just released her second, Hotel Paper, on June 24.

Movie Tunes:

Branch has been appearing on both the big and small screen in an effort to start up an acting career. Her spokesperson told MTV.com that there is a musical aspect to every one of her roles, contrary to several other singer-actors. In her first television appearance on Buffy the Vampire Slayer in fall of 2001, Branch played herself and performed her hit single at the time, “Goodbye to You.” But that was hardly goodbye for Michelle‘s acting career. She later guest starred as 1960s pop star Leslie Gore on NBC’s American Dreams, performing Gore’s hit, “You Don’t Own Me.” Moving up to the big screen, Branch recently landed the role of a DJ in the Rob Schneider vehicle The Hot Chick.
