To celebrate this glorious day for comic book fans, we’re taking a look at upcoming comic book movies coming out of Hollywood where you can head straight to the theater and get the best view of all of the action.

Upcoming Comic Book Movies: Black Widow

“We have unfinished business.” Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh star in Black Widow, the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! 

Natasha Romanoff, better known as Black Widow, is forced to confront the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy arises. Natasha has to deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships from long before she became an Avenger.

Black Widow is heading to movie theatres and on Disney+ with Premier Access on July 9, 2021.

Upcoming Comic Book Movies: The Suicide Squad

Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, and Michael Rooker return as the Suicide Squad in this sequel to the 2016 Marvel movie.

“Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A.  Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X.”

The Suicide Squad is slated to hit movie theatres and HBO Max on August 6, 2021.

Upcoming Comic Book Movies: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy, and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan. 

Shang-Chi thought he left his past behind but finds out that he’s been drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization. 

Simu Liu is the first-ever Asian protagonist in a Marvel movie. “I never saw myself as the hero of my own story growing up,” the actor shared alongside the movie poster on Instagram. “I struggled to find any Asian characters on screen, and there were fewer still that made me feel truly proud of my heritage.”

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings features an almost entirely Asian cast, which Simu Liu describes as “full of rich nuance and multidimensionality.”

Upcoming Comic Book Movies: Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Tom Hardy will star as Eddie Brock/Venom alongside Woody Harrelson, Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, and Naomie Harris in this much-anticipated sequel to the 2018 Venom movie.

Upcoming Comic Book Movies: The Eternals

Directed by Academy Award-winning director Chloé Zhao, The Eternals stars Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee, and Kit Harrington.

The Eternals features “ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, the Deviants.”

The Eternals is slated to be released in movie theatres on November 5, 2021.

Upcoming Comic Book Movies: Spider-Man: No Way Home

Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon return for Spider-Man: No Way Home.
