Maleficent is the role that Angelina Jolie was born to play.
The first film came back in 2014 and pretty much followed the story of Sleeping Beauty with some added touches. It also happened to make about 750 million so Disney was quite happy with it. Happy enough to greenlight a sequel, so Angelina returns.
One little problem with Maleficent and more importantly the title, Mistress of Evil. At the end of the first film (spoilers), Maleficent is no longer evil because Aurora (Elle Fanning) gives her love. I don’t believe this is a prequel because the synopsis says she teams up with Aurora. Either they have to fight another evil, and there can’t be two evils, or someone just wanted a cool title for their new film.
Well, as I like to think, this is only a teaser and maybe they will clear that up with an actual trailer.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil releases on October 18, 2019.
