The original Maleficent took the classic tale of Sleeping Beauty and turned it on its side, telling the story from the eyes of the villain Maleficent. People loved it, enough to make about 241 Million dollars, and here we are with the sequel.
Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) has saved Aurora (Elle Fanning) (yes from the curse she put on her at birth, whatever) and she is now old enough to get married (this might have been the next day for all we know, royalty laws are weird). Anywho Maleficent knows marriage and love are bad and she tries to stop her. Queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer) wants it to happen, and Maleficent doesn’t.
In the above interview Elle Fanning talks about where she finds herself in this film, Michelle Pfeiffer goes into her character and why dealing with Maleficent is so difficult, Ed Skrein with Chiwtel Ejiofor tell us what to take from the movie, and Angelina Jolie explains Maleficent’s journey and transformation and how/why people relate to her.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is in theaters Friday, October 18, 2019.
