Box office sets Columbus Day record

Ticket sales over the four-day Columbus Day weekend set a record for the holiday of $103.3 million, the Hollywood Reporter reported today. The tally beat the previous Columbus Day record of $99.4 million, set in 1999. Leading the list was Warner Bros.’ Training Day, which debuted with $25.25 million, followed by Serendipity with $14.9 million.
