Next year, Paramount has an early Christmas present to offer: hordes of flesh-eating zombies! The studio today announced that it will be releasing its post-apocalyptic zombie flick, World War Z, on December 21, 2012. The film, which is directed by Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) and stars Brad Pitt, chronicles the rise of a zombie pandemic and the various political and military crises that ensue across the globe. It is based on the book of the same name by Zombie Survival Guide author Max Brooks.
The release date places World War Z squarely in competition with Disney’s Lone Ranger, setting the stage for a battle between box-office heavyweights Pitt and Johnny Depp.
