Chris Rock is normally known for being one of the funniest people in the world, but it’s going to be quite different in his new film ‘Spiral’.
The film starts off as a lot of other films before it; its the first day on the job for a rookie cop (Max Minghella) and his detective Zeke (Chris Rock). The two get a call and its a brutal murder with a message that they are after cops. The team-up with a police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson) and it is off to the races to figure out who did this and why.
Here’s the thing, this is connected to a story that many people are already familiar with. This film is a re-imagining of the first Saw film. While the franchise kind of jumped the shark with the number of films that were in it the first film was a creative low budget horror that scared the hell out of people. I’m not sure what to think with this being a “re-imagination”, and this would have been a decent film without that stuff. On top of that, I would have really enjoyed if this Trailer/name of the film didn’t even expose that this is a Saw film, but here we are.
‘Spiral: From the Book of Saw’ releases on May 15, 2020.
