Christopher Nolan ‘excited’ to see Tenet star Robert Pattinson as Batman

Filmmaker Christopher Nolan is looking forward to seeing Robert Pattinson’s debut as the Caped Crusader in the forthcoming movie The Batman.

The former Twilight star appears in the director’s latest blockbuster Tenet, which opened to a strong global debut at the post-coronavirus box office with a $53 million theatrical launch.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about the actor’s role in the upcoming noir-style film, Nolan insisted he has “total confidence” that Pattinson will pull it off as the DC Comics favorite.

“Having worked with Rob, I can say with total confidence that he can do absolutely anything he sets his mind to,” he gushed. “And I could not be more excited to see what he does with Batman.”

Nolan previously directed Christian Bale as the comic book character in The Dark Knight Trilogy, beginning with 2005’s Batman Begins.

“One of the first things I learned when we went to talk to the DC guys before Batman Begins is the character of Batman thrives on reinterpretation,” he mused said.

“Each generation creates its own version. That’s what keeps the legend so sort of fresh in a way.”

The Batman, also starring Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Jeffrey Wright as Gotham City police boss Jim Gordon, will be released in theatres in 2021.
