‘Desierto’ is directed by Jonas Cuarón and is Mexico’s entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards.
Immigration control is a hot topic, and when that’s going to be constantly brought up throughout the election. Donald Trump has suggested building a wall, but it doesn’t look like that’s happening. Border patrol exists, but it’s a lot of land to cover. In this film, two Mexican migrant workers (Gael García Bernal and Alondra Hidalgo) attempt to cross the border when they come across Sam (Morgan), a racist who has decided to take border patrol into his own hands.
Desierto will release in the US on October 14, 2016.
