These Disney Princesses Were Re-Imagined As Real-Life Celebrities

Disney princesses were the real-life celebrities of our childhood. Way back before we cared about what hairstyle Kim Kardasian just got or who Taylor Swift is dating, we cared about what powerful, awesome Disney princess we could be just like.

Greek Photographer and illustrator Gregory Masouras has used this sentiment in his latest project which re-imagines Disney princesses as real life celebrities. He photoshops our favorite characters like Mulan and Elsa (and even a villain or two) into the same magazine covers and editorial shoots frequented by our favorite Hollywood stars.

“Disney characters were our childhood’s celebrities; I would like to help the now-adult audience to be able to follow their once-favourite celebs in contemporary situations and thus make them a little bit nostalgic for an ‘innocence lost era,’ which with a little bit of imagination is not that lost after all,” he said.

Like so many of today’s celebrities Ariel, Jessica Rabbit, Snow White, and many other favourites, don glamorous outfits, walk the red carpet, and pose for risqué photo shoots in this unique series ‘Animation in Reality.’ “I started the #AnimationInReality project two years ago when I bought my new smartphone,” says Masouras, “I was checking out the camera and taking pictures all over Athens when I came across a cloud that looked like the Batman logo; the moment I started editing this photo the idea was born in my mind. “My big break came last October, when Beth Ditto and Marc Jacobs shared one of my photos, which was Ursula [from The Little Mermaid] as Beth Ditto on the runway. “I decide which characters to pair with each photo, Sometimes I am inspired by the character/aura of the celebrity, sometimes by his/her style that matches the cartoon, and there are also the times that I focus on humour and spontaneity! “Disney characters were our childhood's celebrities; I would like to help the now-adult audience to be able to follow their once-favourite celebs in contemporary situations and thus make them a little bit nostalgic for an "innocence lost era," which with a little bit of imagination is not that lost after all.” Featuring: Atmosphere Where: Athens, Greece When: 21 Nov 2016 Credit: Supplied by WENN.com **WENN does not claim any ownership including but not limited to Copyright, License in attached material.
