In the isosceles love triangle at the heart of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Taylor Lautner occupies the unequal short side as the bright-eyed, buffed-out werewolf Jacob Black. When Bella Swan’s (Kristen Stewart) vampire boyfriend, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), ditches her for the sunny climes of Volterra, Italy, it’s affable Jacob who steps in to fill the void, providing the despondent dumpee with a shoulder to cry on (and abs to ogle) as she recuperates from the painful breakup. And what does the poor fella get in return for his efforts? Not a whole lot, as thousands of embittered Team Jacob partisans know all too well. (Nice guys — even those blessed with the supernatural speed and strength of a shape-shifting lycan — always finish last.)
