Fans Still Upset About One Thing In New ‘Aladdin’ Trailer

Lately, Disney has wanted to remake all of their classic animated films into a live-action film, and after Dumbo releases but before Lion King comes Aladdin.

With the first teaser and clips that came out, fans had something to say (when do they not?). Mostly it was commented about Will Smith being the Genie, and how he doesn’t look like Genie and he will never be Robin Williams. While it might be true he’s no Williams, Will Smith has made the Genie into his own character with this Trailer, and it’s easy to see why he won’t be blue at all times. Jasmine played by Naomi Scott looked great and sounds amazing in the tease we got for “A Whole New World” and Mena Massoud might be an acceptable Aladdin. Those aren’t the problems fans have with this new Trailer.

It’s Jafar. Jafar in the original film was always an old menacing villain who used mind control to take over. In this trailer, he’s a good looking guy (played by Marwan Kenzari) and not the shady looking guy who looks like he’s up to something (because he is) that people are used to with the animated film (and even the stage production). Here’s the thing internet, while that works in an animated film, it won’t work for a Live Action. It’s way more believable that he’s a smooth talker that uses his powers to get into the good graces with the kingdom.

We’ll have to see if it all comes together in the actual film when it comes out.

‘Aladdin’ releases on May 24, 2019.
