Horror Comedy is an interesting genre that makes sense on paper, but does it actually work?
Horror is a thrill ride that includes scares. Comedies are supposed to be fun to get laughs. Put them together and you have a rollercoaster of up and down emotions. Blumhouse knows this and had done a number of them including Happy Death Day, Truth or Dare, and Happy Death Day 2U, and now ‘Freaky’
Millie (Kathryn Newton) is a high school student who doesn’t really stand out and even says in the horror film she would be the first to die. A serial killer (Vince Vaughn) is happy to oblige and kills her. She wakes up in his body, and of course, he is in hers. She now has to convince her friends she’s her, avoid the police looking for him, and try to figure out how to get her body back. All while her body is continuing the murders.
‘Freaky’ releases on November 13, 2020.
