Millions take the New York subway every day. Whenever I’m up there, my NY friends tell me one thing, don’t talk to anyone on public transportation. I always kind of wonder who they are, where they’re going, and why, but I prefer not to get yelled at and/or stabbed, so I take my friends advice.
‘Stuck’ is a musical turned film that deals with that exact situation. Six commuters (Giancarlo Esposito, Arden Cho, Amy Madigan, Ashanti, Omar Chaparro, and Gerard Canonico) are on their daily ride when the train breaks down. The 6 can either sit there in silence, or they can talk to one another, learn about their various problems in life (homelessness, abusive relationships, poverty, etc), and possibly grow from this experience.
While I might not be that into musicals, I love a good human story, and this film has plenty of that.
‘Stuck’ releases on April 19, 2019.
