Here Are 6 Actresses Who Should Actually Play Cruella de Vil In Disney’s Live-Action ‘Cruella’

With the major success of 2014’s Maleficent, last year’s Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast slated for release in 2017, Disney is rolling out their live-action films at a rapid pace. So far, the execs have been super spot on in terms of their casting and their graphics. Seriously, Angelina Jolie as Maleficent was everything. This is why we were all left scratching our heads when The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Emma Stone was in talks to play the iconic Disney villain Cruella de Vil is the upcoming live action film Cruella. Though we adore Stone, we just don’t see her rocking de Vil’s furs. In our opinion, she’s much for of an Anita than the diabolical puppy snatcher.

While we would love to see Glenn Close reprise her role as the puppy hating fashion mogul, Disney’s upcoming project will focus on Cruella’s origins. Here are 6 actresses who actually should actually play Cruella de Vil in Cruella.

Natalie Dormer

Game of Thrones fans will recognize Natalie Dormer as fallen queen Margaery Tyrell, who is pretty fabulous and cunning in her own right. However, if you're a true fan of Dormer's then you'll remember her for her role as the diabolical and conniving Anne Boleyn in Showtime's The Tudors. Dormer played a woman who literally brought a King to his knees, so getting a few puppies in line should be no issue for her. Also if Margaery's costumes are any indication, we already know Dormer will have no issue killing the fashion game. After all, she already had to get a pretty good grasp on asymmetrical hair styles for her role as Cressida in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Parts 1 & 2. Who would be a more cool Cruella de Vil?
Rooney Mara

Rooney Mara literally just slayed our lives as Therese along side Cate Blanchett in Carol, and lets not even get into her role as badass Lisbeth in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. By the way, are we ever going to get the film's sequels Columbia/MGM?! From Mara's filmography, it's obvious the pint size phenom can handle anything that is thrown her way, and a role as Cruella de Vil, one of the most menacing Disney villains ever would be no exception. Rooney Mara could probably even give Glenn Close a run for her money.
Elizabeth Olsen

We know that Elizabeth Olsen might be a bit busy playing Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, but surely she could make some time for Disney. We can definitely see Olsen donning all of Cruella's iconic fur coats, jewels and satin gowns. After all, she might have just a little bit of time on her hands since she turned down John Stamos' offer to step in for her sisters in the Full House Netflix revival, Fuller House.

Say what you want about Fox's Scream Queens, but Emma Roberts nailed it as the masterfully sinister sorority queen Chanel Oberlin. We already know Roberts can play viciously nasty characters and wear a fab fur.  All she'll need to play the kidnapping madam, is her minions; Jasper and Horace. Perhaps some of the other Chanels might be available for the roles.
Emily Blunt

Who better to step in to Cruella de Vil's pumps then The Devil Wears Prada alum Emily Blunt?  With her upcoming roles in both The Huntsman: Winter's War and The Girl on the Train, and not to mention her mind-blowing performance in Sicario, the British actress has proven to us that she can do anything. It would be perfect to see Blunt portray Cruella before she became corrupted by money, greed, and power.
Christina Hendricks

Though Christina Hendricks is currently gearing up to join Billy Bob Thornton in Bad Santa 2, we know this Mad Men alum would be beyond iconic as Cruella de Vil. Perhaps no other character on Mad Men has such an astounding character arch as Joan Holloway, and that says so much about Hendricks' strength as an actress. Not only would she be exceptional at bringing Cruella's backstory to life, we already know that she can kill it in the fashion icon's gowns while holding a cigarette. Hendricks would be so convincing in the role that we'd probably forget that she adores dogs in real life.
