You may not want to admit it out loud, but we know you are wondering when Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey is set to hit theaters. Whatever you may think about the film’s plot, you have to admit that it at least got you a tad hot and bothered. Fifty Shades Darker is set to hit theaters February 10, 2017, and the final film in the trilogy, Fifty Shades Freed will come out on February 9, 2018. Though we are a year out, it’s never too early to begin preparing your spirit for the sexy sequel. Here is everything we know about Fifty Shades Darker so far.
What’s the film about?
At the end of Fifty Shades of Grey, Anastasia Steele leaves her billionaire beau Christian Grey, because he refuses to confront his demons in a healthy way. Therefore, it’s now up to the paddle-wielding Dominant to win back the love of his life. However, Darker is going to have a different kind of spin to it. Instead of being a romance flick like the first film, this film is going to be a thriller. Grey’s past is coming back to haunt him in a very bad way.
After major conflict with Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James, director Sam Taylor-Johnson, declined to return for the remaining two films. Instead, House of Cards director James Foley is taking the reins. Even more interesting is the fact that E.L. James’ hubby Niall Leonard wrote the script for this film. With more men in major positions in this film, we’d guess that Darker is mostly going to be from Mr. Grey’s perspective.
Who is in the movie?
Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are reprising their roles in Darker as Christian Grey and Ana Steele respectively. However, some new faces will also be joining the franchise. Academy Award winner Kim Basinger was recently cast as Elena Lincoln, Grey’s former lover and current business partner. Actress Arielle Kebbel will be portraying Gia Matteo, an architect who Christian hires to build his home. Apparently, she gets a tad too familiar with the billionaire playboy, much to Ana’s chagrin. Finally, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies actress, Bella Heathcote will star as Leila Williams, Christan’s ex-flame who is also extremely unstable.
We’re sure more details will begin tricking in as we get closer to February 2017.
