Here’s the Lowdown on the New Characters in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’

Peter Dinklage, X-Men: Days of Future Past20th Century Fox

News about the next X-Men film, X-Men: Days of Future Past, has been both really revealing and extremely vague in terms of new characters. The upcoming film, set in the ‘70s, will see the return of many mutants from each of the franchise’s past features, and earlier versions of figures we’ve come to know. However, since they’ve added so many new or rebooted characters (and we won’t blame you if you can’t keep track of them all) featured in Empire, we’ve got a handy guide for you.

Quicksilver
Played by Evan Peters, Quicksilver is one of the most anticipated new mutants in Days of Future Past. He is the fastest mutant alive and, in the comics, is the brother of Scarlet Witch (who will not be appearing in the film).

Bolivar Trask
Head of Trask Industries, he is a robotics genius and seriously anti-mutant. He has a lot of traction in the political world and will be played by Peter Dinklage.

William Stryker
One of the staples of the X-Men universe is Stryker who appeared in both X2 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. A younger version of the character, played by Josh Helman, will appear in Days of Future Past.

Toad
Though his character details have largely been kept under wraps, we know Toad’s powers from his previous appearance in X-Men: super strong legs, extra long prehensile tongue, and paralyzing mucus.

Blink, Warpath, & Sunspot
These three mutants will appear in the post-apocalyptic future portion of the film as an ally team. Blink is a teleporter, Warpath is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and Sunspot can harness the power of the sun.

Bishop
Similar to Sebastian Shaw in First Class, Bishop can absorb energy and redirect it. Played by Omar Sy, Bishop is one of the mutants living in the post-apocalyptic future.
