Javier Bardem Offered ‘Bond 23’ Villain Role

Javier BardemMan, some guys just have all the luck. Let’s recount all the awesome things that have happened to Javier Bardem in the past few weeks: offered the lead role in the huge franchise The Dark Tower with Ron Howard directing the first installment of the series, nominated for (another) Academy Award for Biutiful and had a baby son with Penelope Cruz (this goes on top of being married to Cruz – that bastard). To top it all off he was also offered the second male lead in the next James Bond film, which traditionally is the villain role. In the 23rd installment of the series Daniel Craig is returning as Bond with Sam Mendes directing.

Bardem handles villainy well, having won an Oscar for his portrayal of Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men. He’s terrifyingly powerful and controls the screen with his presence. It would be an epic delight to see him go head to head with Craig, and considering all the trouble the production has endured it could really use the boost from Bardem, friendo.
