Julia Roberts has signed on to star in a movie adaptation of Cynthia Swanson’s novel The Bookseller.

The film will take the actress back to the 1960s to play a bookshop owner struggling to separate the real world from her dream life.

Swanson’s book, which was published in 2015, became a big hit and readers fell in love with her heroine Kitty Miller, who dreams she is married to the love of her life and has beautiful children.

Roberts will also produce the film through her Red Om Films company.

It’s not the first time the Pretty Woman star has tackled the adaptation of a bestseller – she received rave reviews for her role as author and traveller Liz Gilbert in 2010’s Eat Pray Love.

Meanwhile, Roberts recently returned from Kenya, where she shot a Bear Grylls Running Wild survival film en route to a village in need of vaccines for America’s upcoming Red Nose Day charity telethon.

The Oscar winner partnered up with Grylls for the adventure and to raise awareness of life-saving vaccines.

The odd couple had to traverse hazardous terrain and bypass wild animals to deliver the vaccines to the remote village.

The special will air as part of the three-hour telethon, which will air in America on 25 May (17).
Red Nose Day 2017 will also include the first ever Celebrity Ninja Warrior competition, featuring Arrow star Stephen Amell, actress Erika Christensen, and dancer Derek Hough, and a new version of the 10-minute Love Actually sequel, which originally aired during the U.K.’s red nose day festivities in March (17).
