Kristen Wiig and Galifianakis’s ‘Masterminds’ Is Back On In Trailer 3!

Good news if you were looking forward to Zach Galifianakis and Kristen Wiig‘s ‘Masterminds’.

The film was originally supposed to be released in August 2015, then the production company pushed it back to July 2015, then October 2015. That’s when Relativity Media filed for bankruptcy and the plans for release was dropped. The company sat on this completed film with no releases in sight. Now things have come together and the film will (currently) be released in September.

So what’s the story? David Ghantt (Galifianakis) was a guard for an armored truck company. He’s also kind of dumb. He falls for another guard, Kelly (Wiig), and the two meet Steve (Owen Wilson) and they decide they should rob the truck they work for. They make it out with seventeen million dollars, one of the largest cash heists ever. If this story sounds far fetched, it’s not that far off. ‘Masterminds’ is based on the October 1997 Loomis Fargo robbery, the largest robbery in US history.

The trailer has changed for this release as well. What’s the big change about it? Ghostbusters, surprisingly enough. That film brought some popularity to the supporting cast. Kristen Wiig was always a big part, but this trailer features more from her fellow ghostbusters, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.

Masterminds will currently be set to be released on September 30, 2016. Hopefully, that won’t change again.
