Lin-Manuel Miranda picks Andrew Garfield for directorial debut

Lin-Manuel Miranda has recruited former Spider-Man Andrew Garfield to star in his directorial debut, an adaptation of Jonathan Larson‘s autobiographical off-Broadway show tick, tick…Boom!

The Brit will play a character based on writer Larson, who went on to write the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Rent but died the night before the show’s first preview performance, according to Deadline.

Dear Evan Hanson playwright Steven Levenson is adapting the script from Larson’s original stage show.

Meanwhile, Miranda and Larson are members of a very exclusive club – they are two of nine people to win Pulitzers for stage musicals, Miranda was the brains behind Hamilton.
