‘Birds of Prey’, AKA ‘Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn’ is the second film featuring Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie). While Suicide Squad was overall a downer, Harley was one of the standouts. Margot truly dived into the character, and fans wanted more, so now we have ‘Birds of Prey’.
The film takes place before Suicide Squad but after the Joker’s death (well apparently there’s flashbacks all over the place). Now that Joker is gone Roman Sionis (Ewan McGregor) AKA Black Mask wants to kill Harley and some other ladies, so Harley joins with those girls Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) in order to survive. To make a Comic Book movie with a predominately all-female cast might have been unheard of back in the day, but now is the right time. It makes sense that these ladies have to get together.
In the above video go behind the scenes and hear about the concept of the film from Margot Robbie, then Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rosie Perez, and Margot talks about the training that went into preparing them for the role, Ewan McGregor tells us about the script, and Margot returns to tell us why we should watch the film.
‘Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn’ releases on February 7, 2020.
