Mark Wahlberg Made Assistant Audition for Cameo in ‘Daddy’s Home 2’

Mark Wahlberg forced his assistant to audition for a tiny part in Daddy’s Home 2.

The actor is currently promoting the holiday film, in which he reprises his role as Dusty Mayron alongside starring Will Ferrell, John Lithgow, Mel Gibson and John Cena.

While Daddy’s Home 2 features an all-star cast, Mark offered his assistant a bit part in the movie, but made him audition in front of himself, Will and producer Chris Henchy first.

“He only auditioned for one word. He’s yelling one word in the audience of the improv club. But we made him audition to Timothy Hutton’s most emotional scene in (1980 film) Ordinary People,” said Mark during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Thursday night (09Nov17).

“And he spent weeks and weeks and weeks studying these scenes, learning the lines. And you know what, he did a good job. He did a good job in the audition but maybe didn’t do a good job in the actual scene, so the scene got cut.”

Even though Mark’s assistant doesn’t make an appearance in the movie, he actually told Timothy about his hard work, and the Oscar-winning actor “really wanted” to see the footage.

During the interview, host Seth also asked Mark whether his children view him as a “cool” father like his character in the movie, with the 46-year-old sharing that his four kids, aged from 14 to seven, now find his antics embarrassing.

“I don’t make a point to embarrass them but I’m not going to try to hide my affection for them either. They’re like, ‘Dad, drop us off in the alleyway at school.’ And I’m like, ‘No, I’m going to walk you in, I’m giving a kiss in front of all of your friends.’ And that’s it,” the star laughed. “But if they need something, if they want to meet Drake or want somebody that they know Dad knows or can hook up, then they’ll think Dad is cool for five minutes.”
