McGregor Stars And Directs In ‘American Pastoral’ Trailer

‘American Pastoral’ is based off the book of the same name by Philip Roth which happens to be a Pulitzer prize winner back in 1998 as well as one of the runner-ups in a critic vote of “What is the Greatest Work of American Fiction in the Last 25 Years” poll that was done by the New York Times.

So the story is safe to say good. This trailer is done so well. Ewan McGregor not only takes the starring role, but the film is also his directorial debut. He’s joined by a pretty stellar cast as well, with Jennifer ConnellyDakota Fanning, Corey Stoll, and Uzo Aduba.

So what’s the film about? Seymour “Swede” Levov (McGregor) inherits his father’s business and marries Dawn (Connelly) who happens to be a beauty queen. Things seem perfect, but that doesn’t last when their daughter Merry (Fanning) becomes a Vietnam War activist and bombs the post office, a federal offense that marks her as a terrorist, and threatens to destroy their family.

American Pastoral releases on October 21, 2016.
