It’s that time of year. The time when high school and college seniors don caps and gowns and start asking poignant questions like “what now?” We feel your pain, graduates. Here are a some graduation-themed movies we think you should watch.
1. The Graduate

3. Post Grad
Alexis Bledel finds herself forced to move back in with her parents after college graduation, thanks to the recession of the late 2000s. How very un-Rory Gilmore of her.
Jesse Eisenberg plays a recent college grad whose plans to tour Europe are derailed by financial problems. Instead, he’s forced to take a job at a local amusement park.
5. Say Anything
A classic 1980s romance. John Cusack plays an average student who falls in love with the valedictorian after high school graduation.
6. Into the Wild
Ok so we wouldn’t recommend attempting to survive out in the wilderness, but we can relate to Christopher McCandless’ feelings of discontent with the “real world.”
7. The Social Network
Mark Zuckerberg invented Facebook during his college years. What did you do?
Just think: It could be worse. In this movie, a group of recent high school grads start a fake college because they weren’t accepted to any real ones.
9. The To Do List
Aubrey Plaza plays a socially awkward teen who, after graduating as valedictorian of her high school, vows to gain more sexual experiences before she starts college.
10. Reality Bites
In this 1994 film, Winona Ryder plays an aspiring filmmaker who decides to document the lives of her recently graduated friends. Did you know Ben Stiller directed it?
