Ryan Reynolds to star in parenting monster movie

Ryan Reynolds is to star as a parent who must cope with his kids and a monster uprising in a new family comedy.

The Deadpool star will team up with Paddington director Paul King on the film, which is based on Everyday Parenting Tips, a New Yorker short story from humorist and screenwriter Simon Rich, according to Deadline.com.

In the movie Reynolds plays a dad dealing with the challenges of family with one twist – he must raise his children while living through a monster uprising that has unleashed a pandemic of crazy creatures.

The Lego Movie filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller are producing alongside Rich.

The as-yet-untitled movie is the latest of the New Yorker writer’s satirical stories to make it on to the big screen, with An American Pickle, which is based on his tale Sell Out, debuting in cinemas on Friday (August 7, 2020). That film stars Seth Rogen as a Jewish-American patriarch who falls into a vat of pickle in 1919 and is preserved until he meets his great-grandson in the present.
