See How Animators Created ‘The Shape of Water’ In VFX Showreel

‘The Shape of Water’ was one of my favorite films of 2017.

The film is so captivating that it’s easy to forget you’re watching a love story between a human woman and a fish man. What’s even more amazing is that Guillermo del Toro and his team have transported you back in time. The problem is, the animators and VFX artist are so good that they work often goes unappreciated. Luckily Fox Searchlight released a video of their showreel.

The above video (spoiler alert: the video shows a lot of the storyline) is the VFX showreel to show you what the actors had to act with, what scenes and locations originally looked like, and how the animators were able to create the different locations, as well as to change Doug Jones into the fish man that we know him as.

‘The Shape of Water’ is in theaters now.
