However, by the mid '90s Culkin had had enough of stardom and decided to step back from the spotlight. Over the years, he has done some voice work on the Adult Swim show Robot Chicken, and he starred in the 2004 dark comedy Saved! alongside Mandy Moore and Jena Malone. In the late '90s Culkin was briefly married to actress Rachel Miner, and he had a long-term relationship with Mila Kunis. In a rare interview in 2004 with Larry King, Culkin expressed his desire to keep his personal life private. He said, "It's something—like I said, once you start giving people things and they start expecting things and so I try keep my private life private overall." Still, it looks like Kevin McCallister isn't the only one who appreciated a "lovely cheese pizza", Culkin is a part of The Pizza Underground, a comedy rock band with a musical focus on pizza. This year he also played himself on the TV Land show, The Jim Gaffigan Show. He is currently in a relationship with actress Jordan Lane Price.

In a 2009 interview with Starpulse he said, "People don't believe it a lot of times...So I go through a lot of, 'Yeah it's me" and then, "Oh, you're lying, shut up," and then I say "Okay, I don't really want to get into an existential argument over who I am really when I'm still searching myself.' But they always have these shocked, positive expressions or reactions. They really can't believe that it's this character that they grew up with. It's a mind trip for most people." Retray is in a band called Little Bill and the Beckleys.
