The search for racial equality is still a slow process, even after racism was against the law African Americans were still not considered
‘Loving’ is based on the true story of Richard (Joel Edgerton) and Mildred Loving (Ruth Negga), an interracial couple who was sent to jail for marrying each other in Virginia. Their marriage violated the Rachial Integrity Act of 1924, and the fight for the Loving’s would take them all the way to the Supreme court, where it was found unconstitutional, and ended race-based legal restrictions on marriages in the United States.
The film picked up the award season buzz when it was released during the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
Loving is released on November 14, 2016.
