We adore movies, especially Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. However, some of our most beloved classic films need to be left alone. For example, Johnny Depp‘s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a hot mess that should have never happened. Still, it looks like Hollywood isn’t done messing with our childhood favs. It pains us to say this but, there is going to be another Willy Wonka reboot and this time, it’s going to be a prequel.
Warner Bros. has just acquired the rights to the story from the estate of creator Roald Dahl. According to Variety, the film won’t be an origin story, but instead it will be a standalone film that focuses on Willy’s earliest adventures. So far, the only person attached to the film is producer David Heyman who has been a major part of the Harry Potter franchise and the upcoming, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Honestly, we really don’t need this, not even a ton of candy and Oompa Loompas are going to top the late Gene Wilder‘s original portrayal.
