Stone and Carell Shine At The ‘Battle of the Sexes’ TIFF Screening

The year is 1973. Bobby Riggs (Carell) is money hungry and Billie Jean King (Stone) is the most successful female tennis player of the time. Bobby is a pig who won’t take females seriously and challenges Billie to a match. Billie wants to prove that she can beat Bobby. The two are to face off in a battle on the court that is still talked about to this day.

It’s man versus woman and the only thing we have to compare it to is the epicness that was in the Floyd Money Mayweather versus Conor McGregor fight. In ‘Battle of the Sexes’ it’s all about getting the characters right and true to their real life counterparts, and luckily they have someone to confirm that. In the above interview go to the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival where they had a screening of ‘Battle of the Sexes’. Directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris discuss why comedic actors do so well at portraying real life people, Steve Carell talks about how he thinks Bobby Riggs was as a person, Emma Stone tells us what it was like to portray Billie Jean King, and Billie Jean King tells us how well she thinks they did.

‘Battle of the Sexes’ releases September 22, 2017.
