All eight Harry Potter movies will be available for streaming for the first time as part of WarnerMedia’s new subscription service.

HBO Max launched in the U.S. on Wednesday (May 27, 2020) as it was announced the Potter films released between 2001 and 2011 would be available to subscribers.

The movies have been available for rental and purchase digitally on various sites but not via subscription streaming.

The new HBO Max service offers 10,000 hours of film and TV programming, including original shows.

WarnerMedia bosses project their new venture will reach up to 90 million global subscribers by 2025.

The streaming service will also feature TV hits Friends and South Park as well as movies like Crazy Rich Asians, A Star is Born, Aquaman, Joker, and the Alien, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and American Pie film franchises.

Flagpole new content includes an upcoming Friends reunion and Anna Kendrick-led comedy Love Life.

Over the course of the next year, bosses will also add a collection of DC Comics-related films and animated series, dating back to the late Christopher Reeve’s Superman in 1978 and featuring director Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League.

HBO Max is the last of five major streaming debuts introduced to challenge Netflix. These include Apple TV+, Disney+, and the mobile phone-friendly Quibi.
