‘Thor: The Dark World’ Has a Villain to Take on Chris Hemsworth

chris hemsworth thor villain christopher ecclestonChristopher Eccleston is cursed, apparently. Or rather, Accursed–as in, Malekith The Accursed, the new villain set to thrown down with Chris Hemsworth in Marvel Studios’ Thor: The Dark World. Obviously this is totally a blessing rather than a curse for Eccleston, as the first Thor film was an impressive success all-around.

The Doctor Who, GI Joe and Heroes actor’s role in the film isn’t a new creation, but rather one plucked right from the Marvel Universe itself. Malekith is what is considered a super-villain (not just a regular-type, run of the mill villain, you see!) and ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim. He’s previously clashed with the mighty hammer of Thor in the comic books, and will continue to do so in the film version’s storyline.

And if that news hasn’t gotten you nerds all excited, it’s being directed by Game of Thrones helmer Alan Taylor. And considering how epic the television show is, we have no doubt that Taylor’s up for the job.
