The cast also includes Ariana DeBose, David Alvarez, Mike Faist, Brian d’Arcy James, and Rita Moreno, who played Anita in the 1961 film.

Director Steven Spielberg adapted the film from the 1957 Broadway musical created by Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein, and Stephen Sondheim. The first trailer for the upcoming movie musical premiered during the 2021 Oscars.

Rita Moreno spoke about the remake at the TCM Classic Film Festival in May. “You’re in for some surprises,” she said, “because there are things that are done in this movie that weren’t in the original, that should have.”

That’s definitely one way to promote a movie.

Upcoming rom-com movie releases: The French Dispatch (2021)

Wes Anderson sends a love letter to journalists in the upcoming comedy-drama The French Dispatch. Set in a 20th-century French city, the film follows three different storylines about an American newspaper creating their final issue. The movie features a large ensemble cast including Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Léa Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Lyna Khoudri, Jeffrey Wright, Saoirse Ronan, and William Dafoe.

Wes Anderson explains to French publication Charente Libre (via The Playlist) that while the film focuses on three different storylines, it’s more about one journalist’s journey.

“The story is not easy to explain. [It’s about an] American journalist based in France [who] creates his magazine. It is more a portrait of this man, of this journalist who fights to write what he wants to write. It’s not a movie about freedom of the press, but when you talk about reporters you also talk about what’s going on in the real world.”

The film will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in July 2021 and then will screen at the New York Film Festival.

Watch The French Dispatch in movie theaters on Friday, October 22, 2021.

While there’s no trailer for the movie yet, the film shared a first look at the new adaptation on social media.

Upcoming rom-com movie releases: Princess Switch 3 (2021)

The third time’s the charm in the upcoming third installment of The Princess Switch series. Vanessa Hudgens takes on the roles of American baker Stacy, Duchess Margaret, and Margaret’s cousin Fiona. The Princess Switch 3 will probably follow a similar premise to the first and second film, where Stacy and Margaret switched places to see how the other half lived while balancing romances with Prince Edward (Sam Palladio) and single father Kevin (Nick Sagar).

Vanessa Hudgens spoke to Popsugar about her excitement over the new film. “We’ve been working on the script, continuing to elevate the franchise because it’s always scary doing sequels.” she says, “But it’s going to be fun. There’s going to be great ‘fits. I’m really excited.”

According to Vanessa’s Instagram, filming finished in March of 2021.

“And that’s a wrap on Princess Switch 3,” she captioned in her Instagram post. “What a whirlwind. Man everyone worked their asses off. AND stayed safe. BIG thanks to @netflix for taking the extra precautions to keep us on track and bring that new new to your screens.”

The Princess Switch 3 will drop on Netflix near the end of 2021.

While there hasn’t been much more information on the project, Deadline reports that the movie will premiere at the 2021 Toronto Film Festival on September 9.
