Update: Gillespie Signs On For ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’

Craig GillespieUpdate: Just today, Lionsgate announced that they’ve officially struck a deal with Craig Gillespie to direct the adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Brains… I mean sweet.

Earlier: Craig Gillespie’s really trying to get his hands dirty, or should I say bloody? He just wrapped on DreamWorks’ Fright Night, which involves blood-sucking vampires, and now he’s looking to take Mike White’s recently vacated director’s chair for the Jane Austen-plus-walking-dead-flesh-cravers film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. You probably know Gillespie from his work on Lars and The Real Girl and United States of Tara, so these creepy films are a bit of a departure from his usual fare, but it looks like he’s ready and willing to keep going down the horror-filled road.

Nothing is official yet, but according to Deadline, other director hopefuls are being turned away and final contract negotiations with Gillespie are imminent. Let the wooing, biting, groaning, and chasing begin. (You know, I realize that sentence could go either way.)
