UPDATE: ‘Top Gun’ Takes Off On Blu-ray

Top Gun Blu-ray

UPDATE: For those sitting around on May 10th wondering when the Blu Ray for Top Gun would hit the shelves, sorry to inform you that you waited for naught. The release has been pushed back to August 30th! All the specs remain the same, but needless to say, someone has been put in the DAAANGER ZOOOONE!

EARLIER: I’m actually surprised it took this long to get a classic like Top Gun on Blu-ray, but it’s finally on its way. On May 10, the all-American movie will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special feature-packed Blu-ray/DVD combo pack. In addition to seeing the film restored and converted to the crisp, clean format, the set will include a six-part documentary, a featurette that takes you inside the real Top Gun where it started in Miramar, California, and interviews with Tom Cruise about the role that gave us all the need…the need for speed. (Sorry, I had to.) The Blu-ray also includes music videos for a few of the movie’s iconic songs like Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone” and Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away.” I think the only thing that could make this Blu-ray any more quintessentially American is if they released it on the Fourth of July.

The pack includes a digital copy of the film and will retail for $19.99.
