Wes Anderson Directs A Funny Or Die ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ Short

Critics are raving about Wes Anderson’s new film, Moonrise Kingdom, but the movie is still inching towards its theatrical release on June 29. To hold you off until then, check out the film’s new (and very meta) bit of marketing: a Funny or Die video starring Jason Schwartzman as his scoutmaster character, Cousin Ben, showing Moonrise Kingdom to the group of Khaki Scouts in the movie itself.

Though the video doesn’t reveal much about the plot, it sets the whimsical tone for the movie: if you’ve seen the film, it will plunge you back into the Moonrise Kingdom universe, and if you haven’t, it will make you want to see it without spoiling anything that happens in the film.

Moonrise Kingdom is a story of two young lovers who flee their New England town in 1965, causing a search party to go out looking for them. It is directed by Wes Anderson and stars Jared Gilman, Kara Hayward, Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, and Jason Schwartzman.
