What’s Leaving Netflix in October? Say Goodbye to ‘Twilight’

Twilight, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart
Summit Entertainment

As we travel deeper into the season of Netflix and Chill, we don’t want you to be embarrassed when you invite someone over only to discover the movie you wanted to watch is no longer available. So here’s a rundown of the best movies leaving Netflix this October:

Annie Hall (October 1)

Woody Allen and Diane Keaton star in the Oscar-winning rom-com which Roger Ebert called “just about everyone’s favorite Woody Allen movie.”
Netflix’s Alternatives: Frances Ha, The One I Loved

Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure (October 1)

When Pee-Wee Herman (Paul Reubens)’s treasured red bicycle is stolen, he sets off on a cross-country adventure and travels deep into the heart of Texas to get it back.
Netflix’s Alternatives: Jumanji, Pee-Wee’s Playhouse

Romeo + Juliet (October 1)

Baz Luhrmann‘s 1996 adaptation of Romeo and Juliet starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes is probably the steamiest version of the William Shakespeare play to date.
Netflix’s Alternatives: The Virgin Suicides, Romeo & Juliet

The Big Lebowski (October 1)

The Coen Brothers cult classic stars Jeff Bridges as The Dude, an unemployed slacker who becomes the victim of mistaken identity. It’s a shame The Big Lebowski is leaving Netflix, because that movie really tied the site together.
Netflix’s Alternatives: Reservoir Dogs, Swingers

The Hunt for Red October (October 1)

The 1990 adaptation of the Tom Clancy novel stars Sean Connery as a rogue Soviet submarine captain and Alec Baldwin as Jack Ryan, a CIA intelligence analyst hoping to avoid nuclear war. Fun fact, the The Hunt for Red October, starts in Russian, but eventually switches to English. The transition occurs on the word “armageddon” which is the same in both languages.
Netflix’s Alternatives: Patriot Games, The Sum of All Fears

The Producers (October 1)

While most people might be more familiar with the 2005 remake of The Producers starring Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, and Will Ferrell, there’s a special place in our hearts for the original Mel Brooks film with Gene Wilder.
Netflix’s Alternatives: Sunset Boulevard, Kinky Boots

Twilight (October 1)

The first film in The Twilight Saga set off a global phenomenon and started an unending stream of Team Edward vs. Team Jacob debates (we’re Team Edward all the way).
Netflix’s Alternatives: The Vampire Diaries, Remember Me

Sesame Street Classics (October 15)

While Sesame Street isn’t your typical Netflix and Chill show, it’s still fun to relive some of your favorite childhood memories with timeless and adorable Sesame Street sketches.
Netflix’s Alternatives: Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Masha and the Bear
