The Lost Bus: Everything You Need to Know About Apple TV+’s Survival Thriller

Apple TV+’s new thriller The Lost Bus is one of the streamer’s most anticipated releases of 2025. Directed by Paul Greengrass, the survival drama tells the harrowing true story of a school bus driver and a teacher who risked everything to save 22 children from a raging California wildfire. The film is already playing in select theaters and generating major buzz with critics and audiences alike.

The Lost Bus Trailer

Apple TV+ dropped the trailer earlier this month, teasing a tense, edge-of-your-seat race for survival. The preview showcases dramatic scenes of the bus winding through smoke-filled roads, McConaughey’s emotional performance as Kevin McKay, and America Ferrera rallying the children as flames close in. Fans have praised the trailer for its realism and intensity, calling it one of the most gripping previews of the year.

Plot & Cast

The Lost Bus is based on the true story of the 2018 Camp Fire, California’s deadliest and most destructive wildfire. Matthew McConaughey stars as Kevin McKay, the bus driver who led the rescue, while America Ferrera plays teacher Mary Ludwig. Together, they worked to save 22 children as the fire consumed most of Paradise, California.
