One Girl, One Chanel Bag, 7 Looks

The “timeless piece” is hardly a new concept, but honestly, everything iconic former Paris Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld touches is pure gold. And her take on fashion’s most classic bag, the Chanel 2.55, is just that.

From a neoprene skirt to thigh-high fishnets to a do-rag

For a bag so ubiquitous and classic it seamlessly blends into any outfit, it sure does take center stage in the shoot styled by Roitfeld, a fan of the bag herself.

Shorts Suits Done Right

Seven photos feature seven seriously cool and totally different outfits. From a neoprene skirt to thigh-high fishnets, a do-rag to a fur stole, we honestly wouldn’t expect anything less from the woman whose created some of the most inspired fashion spreads and who has one of the most killer styles in the business.

The stunning images are an ode to the 2.55’s versatility, timelessness and the breadth of individuals and styles that enjoy it. I mean, what other bag could be shared by Jean Shrimpton, Kate Moss, Lady Gaga, the Real Housewives…oh, and my grandmother? (Actually it makes sense, Grammy has a little bit of all those ladies in her.)

So as fashion enters SS14 and scrambles to find fashion’s newest trends in color, style and form, and the next best thing replaces last season’s, let’s take a step back from the excitement and put the focus back on the most iconic bag of all time. After all, you know what they say: the more things change, the more they stay the same.
