At the young age of 14, Kate Moss found herself scouted at JFK airport by Storm Model’s Sarah Doukas. Fast-forward a quarter of a century later and the world is still enamored with her every move. So much so that Christie’s is offering an entire 58 piece auction of art — including photographs, sculptures, and paintings — of the super model’s most iconic and rare moments. The auction is estimated to be worth a whopping $3.25 million (finally something to beat Marc Quinn’s pesky 18 carat gold statue of her) and will take place on September 25.
To celebrate the commemoration — because that is what one does for Kate Moss — NET-A-PORTER has dedicated this week’s issue of The Edit entirely to her.
They’ve attempted to answer everyone’s incessant questions about how to achieve her style, her hair, her makeup (seriously how? HOW?) and inviting artist Mat Collishaw to collaborate with Moss for an exclusive photo-shoot.
The spread, entitled “Girl On Fire,” features a stunning-as-ever Moss in a fringed Alexander McQueen dress and teetering pearl-encrusted heels standing atop a mound of “volcanic rocks” making it look as natural as taking a stroll through the park — a very chic park.
As we wait to hear the outcome of Christie’s auction, we can’t help but wonder what the next 25 years will bring for the model/designer/muse/ultimate-girl crush. Sorry Karlie and Cara it’s clear Kate is still the reigning queen of the world of modern fashion.
