Diane Sawyer Scores Amanda Knox’s First Post-Trial Interview

Amanda Knox

It’s been a year and four months since Amanda’s Knox’s murder conviction was overturned in Italy and she returned to the United States of America. Since then, she has yet to speak about being wrongly convicted in the murder of her former British roommate Meredith Kercher. But on April 30, Knox will break her silence, giving her first post-trial interview to Diane Sawyer during an ABC News Primtime Special, ABC News reports.

People around the world have followed Knox’s story since 2009, when she was tied to the murder of Kercher while studying abroad in Perugia, Italy. Knox then spent four years locked up in an Italian prison — part of a 26-year sentence — before the conviction was overturned on Oct. 3, 2011. Shortly before her release, Lifetime produced a TV movie titled Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy (starring Hayden Panettiere), which followed the story of her arrest and trial. Now, Knox will be speaking about the experience for the first time during her interview with Sawyer, which airs the same day that her memoir, Waiting to be Heard, is expected to be released.
