Amber Tamblyn Is In The ‘House’

Amber Tamblyn20th Century Fox Television made the announcement today that 27-year-old actress Amber Tamblyn will join Hugh Laurie, Olivia Wilde, Omar Epps and other fictional physicians on the seventh season of the award-winning House, MD, which will premiere on September 20th. She will play a brilliant and aggressive medical student whom Dr. House (Laurie) hires as a new team member although she is technically not yet qualified to practice medicine. Tamblyn’s character will be confronted with the morally and ethically questionable way that House practices medicine.

Tamblyn has been contracted for a multi-episode arc, but there is no confirmation on exactly how long she’ll work on the show, which is executive produced by Katie Jacobs, David Shore, Paul Attanasio, Bryan Singer, Russel Friend, Garrett Lerner, Thomas L. Moran, Greg Yaitanes and Hugh Laurie.

Though her successful film career would have you believe that television would be alien to her, Tamblyn is a network veteran, with starring roles in CBS’ Joan of Arcadia and ABC’s The Unusuals under her belt. House gives Tamblyn a great opportunity to display both comedic and dramatic chops, as the show often delves into dark territory before returning to generally cheery conclusion. The cast has always been top notch, with Laurie taking home a pair of Golden Globes and an SAG award for his acting and the show itself winning a handful of Emmy’s during it’s run. Tamblyn hasn’t been as busy as she was a few years back, but this arc, combined with her performance in Danny Boyle’s upcoming drama 127 Hours, will surely thrust her back in the limelight.
