On the heels of the highly acclaimeThe People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, FX has just announced that the third season of Ryan Murphy‘s anthology series will take on the gruesome murder of famed designer Gianni Versace.

In 1997, Versace was assassinated on the steps of his mansion by sociopath and serial killer Andrew Cunanan who killed himself eight days later on a boat. Versace was Cunanan’s fifth and final victim and no motive was ever found for Versace’s senseless murder.

Deadline is reporting that the third season of American Crime Story will be filmed simultaneously with season two, American Crime Story: Katrina which will deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Apparently, an unnamed A-list actress is currently in talks to portray Versace’s sister Donatella Versace, who is featured prominently in the series. Filming will take place in Los Angles and Miami in Spring 2017.
