American ‘Skins’ Canceled

skinsWell, that was a fun experiment. MTV canceled the British import and subsequently Americanized version of Skins. To say it was fun while it lasted might be an overstatement. The show had a lot of hype leading up to its premiere and a fair bit later as sponsors left in droves after the show endured accusations of “child porn,” but the ratings never really realized that hype and instead continually dropped. Eric Sundermann, our Skins recapper, tended to hate it as well.

Oh well. I’m slightly disappointed. I’m a huge fan of the original (definitely better) version, but I thought with a little time and patience this could’ve grown into something comparable. Alas, it seems MTV is not willing to give it a chance despite its finale drawing in more viewers than the renewed R.J. Berger.
