Business soars at Spanish-language TV stations

Although the major television networks experienced a sharp downturn in sales during the upfront buying period last spring and are currently struggling to shore up sales, the two Spanish-language TV networks increased upfront sales substantially, published reports said today.

Univision Communications, the top Spanish-language broadcaster, reportedly recorded $550 million in upfront sales, an increase of about 10 percent over last year. Telemundo Networks, the No. 2 Spanish broadcaster, booked between $200 million and $250 million, a 15-20 percent increase.
