‘Commander in Chief’ to Come Back as Movie?

Cancelled TV drama Commander in Chief may come back as a TV movie.

ABC pulled the series earlier this month and will air the final three episodes of the series in June.

According to ABC spokesman Steve McPherson, the network is in discussions with the show’s creator, Rod Lurie, about filming a two-hour movie that would revisit the first U.S. female president, played by Geena Davis.

He explains, “It’s a fantastic story that Rod has in mind, and there’s still a really dedicated audience for the show.

“It would give Rod a chance to tell a lot of stuff he didn’t get the opportunity to tell and give us another look at it in a reconfigured form.”

Although the project is not confirmed, McPherson said he’ll continue discussions with Lurie throughout the summer.

If the project goes ahead, McPherson hopes it may gauge whether “there’s some life after that, pending how we execute it.”
